Talking to myself!

You know you do it too, admit it!
The question is what are you saying to yourself when you are?

I was in a conversation with a friend over coffee the other day and we started discussing the importance of self talk and what kind of impact it has over your mentality, attitude and self image.

Well, it's not rocket science is it! If you tell yourself that you're an idiot, that you're a failure and you don't deserve to get anywhere or you don't have what it takes to be anything then it's logical to assume that that's exactly what will happen. Nothing.

Hahaha, I love arguing with myself though, I always win in the end regardless of who lost.

On the other hand, if you're constantly empowering yourself with the right things, even when you screw up, by consoling yourself that you're still awesome, that you're failing forward: which means to learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward.
That it's ok and no one is perfect and you'll get there.
Isn't it reasonable to assume that by having the right attitude about a problem or a goal that it becomes just another challenge.
Rocky said it best. Life's not about how hard you can hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. I remember that every time something hard hits me, in any part of my life not just business.

Beginning from the age of 14, I've started my life over 4 times in new cities/countries and lost 6 family members on the way that were my world.
You could say it's been challenging and I've been knocked down more times than I care to remember, but I got back up, time after time after time because I kept my mind and heart strong.

We all have those insecure thoughts from time to time, the kind that just jumps out at us and makes us feel really inadequate, as if we're behind schedule or something. What the hell is that about!?
They always catch me off guard but when they come at me, I actually get mad at myself because I don't put up with this crap from other people so why should I put up with it from myself.

This is how i deal with it: I close my eyes and pretend to pull the thought out of my right temple, scrunch it up into a ball and throw it away.
Now imagine seeing me do this, I must either look like I have mental problems or superpowers!
hahahahahahahahahahaha i'm just picturing someones reaction to watching me do it.

Seriously though, that thought wouldn't have helped me achieve anything. So I just got rid of it. It's the same thing for negative people in your life. GET RID OF THEM! It doesn't matter if they're your best friend or family. I know that sounds harsh but deep down you know i'm right.

Stop taking crap from yourself. You are own best friend and your worst enemy, if you don't help yourself how you can you expect others to help you.

Tomorrow morning, when you get ready for work or lessons, try this, humor me and just try it.
After you get ready and go to the bathroom for the final check, compliment yourself and smile, wish yourself a great day.
Yes you'll feel like an idiot and laugh but do it anyway :)

Much love

Edwardo :)
